Rack as carry in luggage on the plane?

Hello everyone.
I have to fly for a remote session and I need to carry some expensive gear with me.
Is it possible to take the rack as carry in luggage on the plane?
The travel agency doesn't know and wants me to ask when I get to the airport.
But I would rather know beforehand.
I don't want to leave this expensive gear to the luggage monkeys.
What size of rack case can be allowed as carry in luggage?
4U?
6U?

Please help!

I have travel on a plane with this 3 space rack as a carry on: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/GRB3/

As long as it will fit in the overhead it should be fine. Make sure that the power cables are with you in case they as you to power it up. I had that happen once with a POD.

Hope your session goes well.
