Is the TapeOp Board Dying?

I don't mean to talk smack on a competitors board, as we all probably follow a few other boards as well, but the TO board just has nothing going on anymore. I'm sure we all love their mag, but just no action on their boards. For example...last night I posted my WTB ad on both sites. As of a minute ago, 41 folks looked at the ad on here and only 10 there. There aren't too many new posts and mostly, when they are, they're either cross-posts on things I've already read here.
Just curious if you guys are also reading there as well. Just for the record, I have no affiliation with TO or Jules here. I'm just a regular guy that reads them all.
While I'm on the subject, I don't even check the rec.audio.pro site anymore at all. The only time I go there is if I run across some old gear that I don't know about and am looking for opinions. Then, I just hope that Dorsey, Harvey or one of the other good guys have commented about it. Other than that, the site has nothing currently going on.

later,

Forums go through phases, up times, doldrums, everyone fighting, goofing around times..

Kind of like seasons...

True....you just always keep this one interesting and we rarely ever fight. We do get into some fun arguments....the recent clock discussions come to mind....

Anyway, I guess a big thanks to you jules.....Isn't it just about time for a newcastle for you? ...step away from the computer.....

Always one to buck the trend I just scored a gorgeous used ACP-88 over there on the Buy/Sell/Trade...

I visit the TO boards every day. Still a great place IMO.

It's definitely slower over there but I keep going because it is always good for excellent threads that come up the second I don't stop by.

Generally, I don't get why Tape Op'ers aren't as rabid on the forums as I imagine they'd be. As an example, very year I return from the Tape Op Conference totally amped but the buzz on the Tape Op board is near silent. I could never understand that because 1) the conference always outdoes itself 2) There are so many good people that get together from all over the place and 3) the weekend is always a powerful learning experience/social blast.

It seems no one bothers to mention this weekend of insane awesomeness online once they return.

TapeOp and ProSoundWeb both seem a little quieter to me, although they both generally have a pretty high level of quality in posts... when there are posts.

I browse gearslutz with more frequency for two reasons:

1) Far better search functionality than other forums
2) Constant, rabid activity on the part of posters

I think perhaps GS has far more silly and/or ignorant posts than the two others listed above, but the high level of activity makes it somewhat attractive to a bored mind unwinding before bedtime.

That, and sometimes silly posts are fun to read. The blend of completely unapologetic hobbyists, snobby rich folks with too much time and money, dreamers and working professionals here at GS makes for a fun and interesting dynamic. You have to wade carefully through misinformation and seas of brown, but it's often worth it if you have an hour to kill. More fun than most TV, I tell you what.

Then again, perhaps there are fewer posters on TapeOp and PSW because their fans have more of a life on average.... perhaps there's a bit of a 'dork factor' about GS... ain't nuthin' wrong with that.

Love the TapeOp mag by the way. The layout of their forum just leaves a lot to be desired.
