You haven't hit a nerve and he didnt call you a liar. What you did is reveal why you're always getting into conflict with people around here. You bait people with tangents.
You've turned "hearsay" into "lying". Now that guy is going to have to post an explanation about how you've twisted his words. His point is that you're paraphrasing a thirdhand conversation (which was already paraphrased) and you're presenting it as fact. We all learned in grade school what happens when you play whisper down the lane and you're not acknowledging that possibiity. The "pressure" Buckley was "feeling" could have all been projected or it could have been internal and expressed innaxcurately or it could have been from Verlane and not the label. You're repeating something you heard and that's what makes it hearsay. But you've change that explanation into calling you a liar.

That's the same thing with you comment about me defending labels. I sont defend labels, I dispute people's nonsensical posts. If someone posts something nonsensical about a label explaing the innaccuracies in their preposterous logic is not the same thing as "defending labels" as you've twisted it to be.

The only thing I'm clear on is whether you are aware of what you're doing and doing it consciously or not. But this is what gets you in so many conflicts around here.

Look dudes, Jeff was a person on the street, not an icon in your mind ... and I think it's far to look at the person as well as the great music. As a real person he had friends and acquaintances he spoke with every day. He shit and drank and died, just like we all will do someday. The person he talked with about this record and about Verlaine was also a real person, and a very old friend of mine, who was not making things up here. He did not worship Jeff, and he never put his friend on anywhere near the God-like pedestal many do. He was just telling me what happened, as he was broken up over it more than you, I'd suppose. He knew the person, not the icon.

I know it's hard to believe that I might know a honest and honorable guy who talked to the guy you worship a couple of days before he died, but it's true. He was unhappy, Verlaine was difficult, it wasn't working. I love his music as much as the next person, but as he was a real person that used the phone ... and I trust my old friend who told me this when it happened, and when Jeff Buckley was far less known than now ... I'd call my heresay as good as anyones 'facts' on it.

I like his music a lot, we all respect his talent.

Mike I intended no such argument off topic, and no "defensive" position from you is required to have this or any discussion ... I just made an observation and you're projecting. Obviously I've hit a nerve here and I'm sorry if you were offended.
