Any of you guys use your FATSO's as tracking comps?

Just wondering if any of you FATSO owners use it as a tracking compressor...show of hands? Any good on vocals?

I mainly use it as a vox buss comp or electric guitar buss comp but have been thinking about using it as a tracking comp after some api 512's...

let me know! thanks!

Yes, all the time. Vocals, Basses, Electric Guitars, Kicks, Snares. I use the "Tracking" comp, which is a loose 1176 emulation.

I use it while tracking guitars, overheads, synths. But I rarely use the compressors while tracking. Maybe the tracking comp for overheads. For the most part I just use the saturation, warmth, and tranny.

Insomnio--what setting are you using to track bass? I really don't like the GP preset at all. Is anyone using that for anything?

GP has worked for me for elec guitars, but I actually prefer the tracking comp for this most times. GP seems to kill the highs a bit too much for my taste.

I'll use it while tracking mostly on overheads (warmth) and bass (tranny.) Also on vocals for additional de-essing if needed. I'll also use it in tandem with an 1176 or a DBX 160XT.

Just gotta watch that your highs aren't affected in a way you aren't looking for.
