far out

The only other one I've ever seen on pc was Ultrafunk:phase until they were absorbed by Cakewalk and made part of Sonar. A good IBP-style plug-in has been needed for some time. Will have to check this out.

From the website:

Description

PHA-979 is a PC VST plug-in which allows you to apply an arbitrary phase shift to the program material.

Interesting choice of words.

That's the way I mix all my records. I arbitrarily turn all the knobs on my console. LOL

Peace

Yet somehow if we read the FULL definition of the word (knowing some words have more than one meaning) we find.

2 a : not restrained or limited in the exercise of power

and

3 a : based on or determined by individual preference or convenience rather than by necessity or the intrinsic nature of something

Perfect choice of words if one wasnt inclined to make an ass of themselves ina public forum.

My apologies for the harsh nature of the post, but it is highly frustrating to me to see that nonsense.

[edit] I found the source of the posters definition, and according to it (dictionary.com)...

2. Based on or subject to individual judgment or preference

This is still an appropriate word for aleksey to use in the sentence describing and marketing his product.

I thought it was an odd choice of words. So (out of curiousity) I looked it up at dictionary.com.

The first definition was the one I posted. It was the definition that first came to mind and was appropriate for my point.

Yes, lots of words have different meanings.

This wording seemed "Queer" to me so I thought it might be funny to mention it.

I didn't mean to hurt sales or offend anyone. (Most of us know better)

For instance:

DICK: A fellow; a guy

COCK: A leader or chief

FAG : A cigarette

GAY : Cheerfulness and lighthearted excitement; merry

So, DICK. Be a good COCK and act real GAY. Go suck a FAG.

it isnt as versatile as an IBP, which has more controls but it does the job...

This post is full of "win". I'm not sure someone could have responded any better. Your original posted definition is the first thing that will come to mind when anyone hears the word arbitrary. I almost thought it meant that they had made the process automatic or something, as if you turn it on an everything aligns itself.

Either way, there was some headscratching...

Can't wait to try the plug. I would have thought that plugs like this would be everywhere, with the home studio becoming more popular and amateur recordists running around everywhere. I'm really surprised that there's only a small handful of them around.

That sentence is full of "fail."

Arbitrary in this case simply means not predetermined or not bound by a hard value. It's used that way all the time, I'm not sure where the confusion lies.

This plug does look useful, though. I've been meaning to get something like that for a while.

You can build one of these easily in Reaktor, I made a a tool which included a phase-adjuster a couple of years ago and have used it non-stop since:-
Be aware though, that phase alignment tools are basically just allpass filters, they do not shift the phase of all frequencies by the same degree... It's a compromise which *can* work, dependng on application.

There will apparently be an IBP plugin for the UAD card sometime in the future

I've used tritone's phasetone in the past with adequate results

Two free ones, Phase Bug and PhaseTone, at my friend's awesome database of free plugs: GERSIC.COM free audio plugin database PhaseTone link is broken, but look around their site to find it.

Never used either, just a head's up.

Yea i've used the Phase Bug a couple times, it's really easy to use. Well worth checking out. It's by a company called "BetaBugs", check them out at BetabugsAudio :::plug-in development turned inside out::: - They do some other free plugs too. Only just heard about them from a Sound On Sound mix rescue, so not had a chance to try them all out yet, only downloaded them a week ago!!

He's your friend? He's responsible for my freshly developed turning away from Mac to Windows! I discovered right there some time ago how many incredible freeware plugins were available for Windows - I think I was looking for a specific tool which wasn't available for the Mac and I got it at Gersic.com. Since my "mixdown computer" was a PC, I installed it there and everything went really smooth. Right now I'm sitting in front of a PC running Reaper and almost completely freeware and it sounds awesome! Give him my regards!

PS. maybe in 2 years I will curse him when I went through the often hawked Windows hell
