We use 192kHz, which is by far the most superior sample rate ever in the history of sample rates. Nobody should be using anything other than 192kHz. If you are using something other than 192kHz you are most certainly inferior and should be earning less money than superior 192kHz people like us. It's the year 2007. Who wants to hear a kick drum at anything less than pure, crystal clear, 192kHz? Don't even talk to me if you don't use 192kHz, you're just bloody pathetic. Pathetic.

Who needs more than one instance of Pultec Pro when it makes a kick drum sound that good? Priorities, people.

24/48 for most sessions
24/96 for porn - honestly, someone's got to do something about the ADR here folks. I mean, swirling a wooden spoon in a bowl of wet spaghetti is only convincing for SO long.

Usually, 48/24. Sometimes 44.1/24. 96k hasn't impressed me much thus far and I haven't tried 192 yet.

Since I'm Pathetic (LOL... Matt!!):

For Music CD: 24/44
For Video Jobs: 24/48 (TV jingles) or 24/96 whatever the DVD author demands.

Wow, cool trick!
So you're the guy who's been recording those awesome soundtracks... do you do the "grip" job too?

These days I use 96KHz sample rate. For a long time I was using 44,1KHz, but I soon noticed I had some latency problems with that setup and later I realised that as long as I use a good dither algorithm during mix-down I'm able to sonically outperform 44,1KHz by recording at 96KHz. So that's my sample rate of choice now. The bit depth I use is of course the highest possible in my version of Steinberg Cubase SX, 32-bit float point precision, utilized only as mix engine headroom, the actual sampling bit depth during conversion is of course up to 24-bit.

Yah well, not all of us have an unlimited supply of DSP. Get used to it.

24 bits, 44.1kHz. Anything higher for rock n blues is a waste of space.

Oh sure, it's a joke now. But in a few years when they up the sample rates again, the humor will be lost. :-)
