PAGING GREG WELLS. MR. WELLS PLEASE PICK UP THE WHITE COURTESY PHONE!!

Hey Greg,

Big admirer of your work and your posts here. I just watched the Hanson documentory, which I thought was a great insight into the circus that is the music business. Having put out 3 major label records on 3 different major labels I am well aware of what they went through - as well as having worked with Glen Ballard a lot myself. In fact I met you in my A&R person's office at Universal one time after having just been told that my record was dead. I may not have been in the most friendly mood...for that I apologise!!

I have two questions for you. I have just finished producing my first record for a band on Epic and am getting ready to start another that requires some horn work. I know you have used Jerry Hey before and wondered what the experience was like. Also, did he do the arranging for you or was he just playing?

Secondly, a total nerdy question. What console did you have before your Neve? I saw it in the Hanson video but couldn't see around Joe Chiccarelli's fingers....damn him!!

Cheers

Jonny

Jerry Hey and crew are the best in the world. Jerry writes the greatest horn charts (my favorite, period) and then nails them as part of a ridiculous horn section.

My pre-Neve console was a Soundcraft 2400. My production of Rufus Wainwright's "Across the Universe" was mixed on it.

Good luck with your new production!
