| Lives for gear | Best flooring material for studio Monitors? I have the option of moving into a room with wood floors, (not real hardwood but those 1/2" thin boards that snap together, seem like some sort of wood but not the "Real" stuff) Tile, or carpet floors... I am guessing Carpet is best, then wood second and tile last... if I was in the tile or wood room, what would help make them better, throw rugs? |

| Why don't you get a couple of granite slabs. I saw some at Costco for $38. They're polished/beveled and put Sorbothane under them! thumbsup Regards, Bruce |

| Lives for gear | well, I am not putting in new floors into a room, I have three seperate rooms already equipped with flooring and I am deciding which one to use... I have my assumptions on what is best for sound, due to reflections I thought wood and tile wouldnt be good... am I correct in thinking this? |

| My thinking on this would be that you would want an equal amount of reflection/absorption. Now, you can make wood/tile more absorptive by placing area rugs about, but you can't make carpet more reflective. Which means you have more options of tuning the room with wood/tile. Regards, Bruce |

| Forget about hte floors. Decide based on what the size and shape of the room is and where the windows and noises are(like the refrigerator on the other side of the wall). -tINY |

| Lives for gear | one room is rectangular, about a 9 foot ceiling, and its about 18feet wideand 24 feet long, the other room is about 16 feet tall but more squarish, its got weird shapes everywhere and doors and closets, quite different from the other room, and both rooms have one big window, the first room has it on the longest wall, the second room has it on the short wall. |

| Tall ceilings are a plus. I guess you'll have to set up a pair of speakers in each room and see what sounds best. You might as well build some bass traps now - whatever room you end up with..... -tINY |

| Lives for gear | so the conclusion here is, flooring doesnt matter as much as dimensions? |
