| AD ---> Firewire = Jitter? I'm considering getting a LavryBlue AD unit and contacted them to find out if they offered a Firewire option on these. They said that they didn't and won't be offering it because Firewire introduces too much jitter. How then would be the best way to get high quality audio into my laptop? Is jitter mostly an issue at the AD conversion stage? Do I have to record into a dedicated HD recorder and then transfer the audio to my computer? That kinda sucks. Is going Firewire doomed to give less than optimum results? Any advice?

| Gear addict | I use Metric Halo. They have two options, both Firewire, an 8-channel unit and a stereo unit with higher quality mic preamps. I like it. They brag about having very low jitter, and I'm inclined to believe them. I've never heard anyone knock their sound quality.

| I was considering the Metric halo for a while but from what I've read there were many complaints about the stability/reliability of the drivers on Mac.
