BabyBottle quiet?

I was wondering if anyone has noticed that it is impossible to get a good level out of these mics sometimes. I say sometimes because we have 3 and we'll get good levels sometimes and bad other times. I used two on drum OH's once and noticed that the left mic was dramatically quieter (same pre and brand new Kiwi cables) so we sent it back. But I'm noticing that its generally hard to get a great level on these mics.

Anyone else noticed this?
