Yes i think the limit is 3 devices. i had 2 n12's here for a while and george was heling me set them up. however what i didn't understand was how MANY options 2 would bring you

all i wanted was 2 units to become 1 for summing

meaning i wanted on the first n12 to have

channels 1-8 and 9/10 11/12

then havd on the second n12

channel 1 actually = channel 13

so the mono channels on the second n12 would be

channels 13-20 and then 21/22 23/24

that way i could route out easily from group channels in cubase to the respective tracks on the n12's and then hit REC on both and have all 24 channels come back to a stereo track in cubase

i also want the 2 headphone jacks on the second n12 to mimic the first one

so another aux and another stereo out so to speak

i still want this simple setup and will be getting another n12 at some point (the other one was a friends)

george says this is easier now, mlan confused the hell out of me, they really need a manual for multiple devices, especially 2 n12's since i think alot of people would get another one if they understood how to use 2 together easily

george might actually have something mocked up for my scenario at this point in the new drivers and could add to it as needed

he whips this stuff up really quickly

The new drivers work EXACTLY as you describe there Tim.

I guess now is as good a time as any.....
I will still be here with my fellow G Slutz as a user, but not in an official capacity.
I have a new position with Yamaha in the Electronic Keyboards department as it's new Product Manager. So much of my time will be getting up to speed on the many new products that will be my responsibility. (PSR's, Arranger Workstations, Digital Pianos, Clavinovas)

Anyway, don't panic I will still keep a loving eye here just not as often and I'll need you guys to answer as much as you can. I'll be here to correct any mistakes etc.

Wow, I just want to say good luck in your new job George!

I've been reading this thread from day 1 and I can safely say your dedication to this product and its users were the factor that brought to the point of recently buying an N12 (and a second soon I hope)

Thank you so much for your tireless work, I know I'll be benefiting personally from all your posts over the next months as I discover more about the N12,
Mike

Yes, thank you George for all your help.
I wonder how many N12s you've indirectly sold? (you sure sold the one I bought)
Good luck!
(... and please introduce Gearslutz to the one taking over your current position! :-))

Exclamation Add this to the yamaha website!!!!

If you are using 32bit Cubase on 64 Vista, you NEED to install 32 bit extensions!!!

I was on the phone to support and they couldn't help me... had to figure it out myself.... NOT COOL!

This really should be written on the download page. Surely it is foreseeable that someone would want to use 32bit Cubase with 64bit Vista.

Well, actually.... the 64bit extensions should also install 32bit extensions.

(FYI Two of the biggest music stores in my country just started a sale on N8/N12.
Pure speculation: Musikmesse is close, could the events be related?)

Good luck in your new role Geosync. Your support here was definitely a reason to go ahead with this new technology, for me.

Its definitely appreciated and worthwhile, and I hope the replacement manager in your role takes up the challenge here at GS!

Indeed, Yamaha Tech Support is excellent. I was having trouble getting the new FW driver to install properly and, thus, get the Cubase Ready indicator to light. Called Tech Support and a very patient and highly competent fellow shepherded me through the entire procedure. There is truly no need for anyone to vainly beat their heads against the wall attempting to complete the new upgrade. Give the n12 techs a call at 714.522.9950. That's a shade different than the number you gave, George. Don't know if it matters all that much or not. Anyway, they are there for you. My tech even offered to send me a free Cubase instructional DVD, an offer I readily accepted.

George, I just received my n12. Just as you are leaving, it appears. That said, I bought it after reading a number of posts by you and others. It's working out OK. So, thanks for all your dedication to the thread. And thanks to everyone else, as well.

That's US only right?
The only Yamaha support interface in Europe is as far as I know (at least in Sweden) a webform at Contact Us - YAMAHA Global Gateway.
Either use that or contact your dealer and get support from them (not a big chance I'd say).

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

In the US, you can start with the same Contact Us page, then a case number will be assigned, you will be contacted (maybe by email) as the case progresses, the appropriate response will be given email, vox etc...

I'm pretty sure that's global. We at Yamaha take pride in our support....... don't we?

Found someone selling a used n12 for $550 and a n8 for $350 -- (oddly in London, yet posting their gear in $USD). Anyhow, that's a good price if someone is interested. They have about 8 different Yamaha boards total to sell, along with all kinds of other gear. Must be a clearance.

It might be a scam. I don't don't know. I found an identical post today written in Portuguese. Maybe he's selling a 59 reissue? Does that exist?

Could well be a scam, 'Western Union Money Transfer' appears to be the only payment option offered, and if you Google for the name given as the contact a lot of hits come up apparently associating the name with the word 'scam', so perhaps one would do well to be cautious,

Yes, I might have sounded a bit negative but I'd like to clarify that I've never seen so good support on a product that I've bought as on the N12!
Thanks again George for all your time and effort.

My new FW driver has been unloading during PC reboots, and I have to go through the entire reinstallation process each time. It will stay loaded and work well until the next PC reboot. Anyone else seen this issue? If so, have you found a cure? Thanks.

Can you explain "Unloading" ? That term is confusing me.

Sorry about that, but I'm really not sure I know a better word at this point. Maybe inactivated is a better term, if that's what's actually happening. I first encountered the problem yesterday morning during my initial bootup for the day. There was no communication between the n12 and the PC, and upon inspection, after opening the firewire icon in the systray, all the display fields were grayed out. I reinstalled the driver, and the extensions, too, just to be inclusive. The fields were no longer grayed out and the n12 communicated well with the PC. It worked well all day long. Booted up again first thing this a.m. to the same scenario. Reinstalled everything again, and all is well again. For the time being, anyway, it seems. I sent an email to tech support, but haven't had a reply yet. And since I thought it might be a new issue, I asked here as well. Thanks.

Pluggo problems with N12

I know it's Friday the 13th but I've had several crashes today. Cubase just freezes, especially when I'm adjusting a parameter in a PLuggo plug-in. But it also is freezing randomly whilstplaying back.

Wondered whether anyone else has had this problem - since installing the new drivers it's been rock solid - I don't think any of the projects I've been working on up until today had any Pluggo plugs running, cannot be sure but fairly certain. So it looks like an issue.

Anyone?

Cheers
Simon

yes, he did, thanks. he called shortly after i originally posted to the list. maybe you sent him a message, too? anyway, i was just getting ready to reply to the list. at first blush, the issue appears to be related to booting the pc after a full shutdown [the driver was staying healthy throughout simple pc restarts]. that in combo with indirectly cabling to the n12. still unsure exactly how, but the driver was being completely dumped [unlinked, inactivated, something] in the process. simplified the cabling, reinstalled the driver again, and everything seems stable now. i don't anticipate tinkering with the current setup. certainly not over the weekend.

Hey. Got this link on another forum for fixing a problem, but now there's another one, so hope to get help here also.

Using 64bit XP with SP2, yamaha n12 series, recently upgraded to the latest version with CAI and everything. Tought that all will work well, but then this message OHCI IEEE sometimes (for now it appeared 3 times, even tough windows starts many times) apears in bottom corner, when yamaha turns on/is connected.

How to get rid of OHCI message? Is there something in BIOS to be done or what could solve the problem with the FW? Thinking this problem is related with the input latency which became a problem simulteinously when the message started to appear.

So, if this problem is fixed it would also fix the latency problem. Btw, the motherboard is new(or should be).

Graphic Patchbay with the new Yamaha Steinberg FW driver?

An obvious question for those skilled in the art, but does the new Yamaha Steinberg FW driver have a graphic patchbay?
So with that driver it’s still possible two route two N12s together without going analog (mixing >=16 channels simultaneously to a stem)?

(Maybe we should have a faq on theses issues?)
