| N12 still fails to connect. Computer is on. N12 and Connection Manager are off. - I turn on N12, wait a few seconds. - Turn on Connection Manager. After a few seconds: Failed to connect n12. Do you want to retry? -retrying doesn't work, so as usual I have to restart the computer. Do not like restarting my new Mac Pro every time like this. |

| New drivers for the N12 are now up on the yamahasynth web site - I haven't downloaded or installed yet but thought I would let evreyone know. Should be OK now to use the N12/8 with Cubase 5 |

| Mlan not necessary??? I'm confused - the new drivers info states on the website: The n8/n12 Firmware V1.03 is compatible only with the Yamaha Steinberg FW Driver. The n8/n12 will no longer be able to work with n Driver, AI Driver, or mLAN Driver/mLAN Tools after updating to V1.03 or later. Now does this mean I do not need MLAN tools 1.63? I have been unable to use N12 on my system since I bought it months ago (audio cuts out intermittently), and have been waiting for an update that may bring me joy. Am going to try the new drivers etc but this is just a bit confusing for me, of dull brain and slow wit. I uninstalled my Mlan tools ages ago as I have been using RME Multiface, (and sacriligeously using N12 as a monitor mixer....) so, are these new drivers ALL I need? Looks that way but wouldn't mind it in black and white George, call me thick if you like!! S ![]() |

It just connects There is a Control panel that you can launch that will set clock source and sample rate. Once they are set you never need launch or switch again ;-)

Correct, the only reason for mLAN now are if you have a legacy product 01X, i88X, MY16mLAN or mLAN16E Else it's new drivers.

Thread Starter | New Yamaha Steinberg Drivers are released NEW Drivers are here. You should read everything on the page before downloading. Also not that if you own a Motif XS you will need to download the drivers for it as well as the extensions for Cubase 5 are not bundled together. Enjoy !! |

| Thanks George - of course I posted before rtfm, told you I was slow.... So far so sweet....working! after MONTHS of the N12 being a lovely paperweight and superb monitor mixer I may at last have a solid system - no audio cut-outs for half an hour so I'm going to go ahead and patch the Amek Purepath into the inserts and hope that the RME can be put back in the box for lightweight laptop use! |

I am always leery about installing anything new, but I gotta say the AI driver has worked great for me so I feel pretty good about the new driver.

| Hi Trock - no, I'm on Cubase 4.52. Not sure if an upgrade is worth it for me cos I rarely use loops etc and I'm not sure what's new in 5 that I'd use - from what little I've read about it (and you know I don't rtfm...!). I'm mostly UAD-1 and TC Powercore for EQ, comps and Reverbs. I'm very happy to have the system up with N12 now - Anyone here want to buy a CM Labs Motormix (in the UK)? Simon |

| C5 wrote over my license for Studio 4, so be careful. I no longer have access to the DAW that all my projects run in. Steinberg did not disclaim that they would trash my paid for software in lieu of 5. So if 5 doesn't work as 4 did, or there's problems with the N12 driver, I'm done. |

| Hi guys, I have a question regarding Cubase AI and the N12. I know someone whos selling his N12, I got to play with it, fantastic. Anyhow, if I buy his, will the cubase AI be transferable? I seem to remember reading somewhere that its not, but hopefully I'm wrong? If its not transferable I may buy a new unit, but in this case what happens if a users computer goes down and they need to reload their software? Mike |

| Thanks George, Just to clarify however, the owner of the N12 in question has installed AI on his computer, hence I imagine his serial number would be registered. Using his instalation CD, will I be able to install AI onto my computer and then register, or must he unregister his instalation first? thanks Mike |

| Just to confirm the new drivers DO NOT work on xp64. No cubase light no nothing and when I pull up the YSFW icon everything is greyed out, it won't let me do anything. I've uninstaled and re instaled everything as per the instructions 3 times and NADA!!!! Somehow I just knew this would happen to me ![]()
