Nashville Recording Scene

hey all,
I have a general question, and I know, vauge at best but do your best to help me out if anyone knows
I'm an LA based engineer and I've just had to opportunity to move out to Nashville. Everyone keeps telling me how awesome the work scene is there, but have any of you had any experience down there?
I've got enough label credits to turn some heads and open a door or 2 maybe.
My other concern is that's, true or not, its 100% country al the time, which I've not done a heap of, and wouldn't like to get stuck doing the rest of my days.
In any case im planning a trip down there to suss it out, but any additional info would be much appreciated.

thanks all

J

Well...

I make a pretty decent living doing indie / smaller label records for about $15-20K and I have only done ONE country record in the last 6 yrs - and it was a "Sheryl Crow does Country" record

There is certainly a lot of work here - ESPECIALLY if you have your own place / gear

There is definitely a lot of Country and Contemporary Christian Pop / Rock but if you embrace that and just look for the cool projects, it could be great

The other nice thing is you can buy a brand new 2500 sq ft home for $200K so the cost of living allows you to not stress about pulling in LA type income ( I lived there for 10 yrs )
