Thread Starter | Sample Rate
Ok,... say I purchased the Apogee AD&DA -16X and the Lynx AES16 soundcard. Recorded a session at 24/192kHz, have a good mix, now Iam ready to bring this great sound down to 16/44.1k for CD. I know the UV22HR will handle the 24 bit to 16bit conversion but what will happen to the 192kHz sample rate when it is pulled down to 44.1kHz???? |

At this moment I really cant afford to record at 192kHz,... well I have the HD space and SAWStudio can handle it, now the Lynx 16AES can handle it but I cant get the "Genie" out of the bottle without a high quailty SRC. Now that would set me back a year. Is there a 192kHz SRC out anywhere??? It would be nice if Apogge made one and have a full digital convertor/sample rate solution. I not going to pretend I know everything on the digital equipment side of Apogee. I depend upon the knowledge base of people like yourself to help me or anyone else for that matter to turn the corner to high quailty recording. Now I am at the cross-road of getting the 16X-AD/DA now or adding to what I have saved for 2 more years to see Apogees new product line. Best regards Sanford

Sanford, You do not need to record at 192K for any reason. In fact, you do not need to record above 44.1K unless you are recording to DVD or digital broadcast. My suggestion: stay at 44.1K and don't worry about it. |

Thanks for your suggestion,...and for knowing my "Needs"without asking me "First" what my future recording needs are. No I dont have "Yet" a studio w/100k or more in just outboard gear. However, when I do Apogee WILL NOT be there!! Your knowledge base is not That vast and all incompassing to know anyone needs without first asking. Best regards Sanford

I am man enough to apologize for thinking your suggestions were nothing more than helpful summation of what I should do. I have spoken to you and your colleage over the phone serval times before this "Fupar" and the only thing you have been was very "Professional" in answering my question and given me insight and clarity on the 16x AD/DA. As for Apogee converters, I was hooked when I read reviews about the AD8000 a year an a half ago. I can only hope that my "Stupid A#@" moment did not damage my relationship with you and the Apogee Electronic Corporation beyond repair. I was stress out over something else while I was answering your responce back to me. Please respond. Best regard Sanford Now this is for the " Apogee Competion Forum". I hope EVERYONE who reads this thread see what can happen when you carry "Stress" and aim it at someone who is trying to do you good. Its not a good place to be. From this moment,.. I am placing this behind me so I can move forward. I hope the forum not judge me on this mistake. Best regard Sanford
