KRK V8 Monitors

I have a pair of KRK V8 and basically it looks like Ive F***kd them right royally... but im unsure if i have!!
What I have are 02Rs and of the 02R stereo it goes into the L/R of the KRK V8s. When i was listening to a mix today, it sounded like the mix was right heavy..so i muted each side to notice a 'very flat' and empty with no bass or high frequency..almost a muddled sound..
then i switched the left and right KRKs on the 02R to notice the 2nd speaker making this horrible sound.. so both sound flat and muddled...!!
I opened the voltage box in the back to see if the fuses had blown and the filaments are alot blacker than silver.. so maybe all have died.. i dont know..
CAn someone please shed some info on this before i email KRK etc..
Thanks

I'm not sure what you have going on from your description.

If the fuses are bad, replace them.

I'm not sure what the source has to do with this.... Maybe your can try driving the speakers with another source (like a cd player straight to the monitors) to eliminate the output of your board as the problem.

Good luck

Thanks guys for the info and contact...
tried the V8s through a stand along sampler and its the same thing so i believe its some sort of speaker issue...!!!!
so weird ... has anyone encountered this issue? perhaps with other monitors where the sound just becomes dull, bass and high less and very flat like an old mono radio.
Thanks

Are you sure that you do not have a tweeter fried ? that can be real dull. I think my last one was around $35.00 to get a new one, a woofer is $85.00
plus how long have you had them ?

Hi there
Ive had the V8s for about 2 years now since new.
Can those tweeters be replaced by me, would they be available locally in LA or on line etc? or would I need to send to the factory in Florida?
Do you know how to find out if the tweeters are fried?
Hope you can help!!!! Its so frustrating!!!
Thanks!
Clarence

yes the tweeter can be replaced by you, simple and easy, takes a few mins.
no, the ONLY place to get the tweetes is the Factory and you have to stay on there ass.
I have a ecxtra one here but i need to hold on to it, you probally have version 2 anyways, you are gonna need to tell them if you have the 1st series that came out or the second.
mine has toggle switches on the back.

something you said was of concern tho, you said it lacked BASS in that speaker, does it really ? or is it that the tweeter is fried thats throwing you off ?
stick your ear to the tweeter and see if you hear anything coming from it...
also turn up the woofer/speaker with some bass and see if the woofer is moving.

nothing else take the speaker back where you got it and let them check it out...however take it in your own hands for parts, KRK is a pain in the ass, they have gotten better but still slow. you will talk to them and then you will fill out a form via email, then within a few days they will call you for a credit card #.
First time i ordered a woofer for my V8s, they sent me a 18 inch sub that still here in the floor in the box, and thats been months ago.
KRK got bought out by the Stanton group. i tried there # this morning and it would not go thru, just keep trying, email in the past DID NOT work for me, they might have got better, who knows about them guys.
