| Lives for gear | transferingo Waves auth. to another iLok
I have an iLok with authorizations for Waves, vintage Warmer, AltiVerb, and a few other plugs. This iLok appears to be on the way out, the USB connector wiggles around and the connection is intermittent. I figured i'd better transfer the authorizations to another iLok before this one totally bit the bucket. I purchased another iLok and found that on iLok.com I could easily transfer all of the authorizations EXCEPT for the Waves. does anyone know how to transfer Waves authorizations from one iLok to another. The waves website was not very helpful. |

at this time it is not possible to do so. i would email Waves Tech Support, let them know of the issue of your breaking iLok, and ask them what is appropriate. ~j.d.

Yup, that is the bad thing on the Waves auths. They cannot be moved. They actually require the iLok serial number. iLok.com support will help. You'll have to send them the iLok and they should be able to take care of you. iLok support is your best bet - they have pretty good customer service.

waves is kinda jerky, in this regard, in my opinion.... in fact, in my experience... waves plugs can get fussy unless they are on their own ilok, without any other software authorizations on it. waves only, on a single ilok |

All you have to do is purchase ZERO DOWNTIME from Ilok which is like insurance in case your ilok get destroyed, breaks or you lose it your licenses are safe. It costs about $30 a year. Hope this helps

David, are you sure that zero downtime covers Waves? iLok.com is pretty ambiguous about the coverage.

And it doesn't really mean your licenses are always 'safe' - what it means is that you will get temporary licenses issued while they sort out the problem (eg, repair or replace the iLok). If the 'problem' is that your iLok is lost or stolen, I think you get the temporary licenses, where applicable, but you have to go to the vendors to sort out full replacements, which I think in most cases means ponying up full purchase price again. The purpose of ZDT is exactly that - to let you continue working and finish whatever project you're on - it's not a substitute for insurance though. | |
