Hello there... I am going to buy one of these mics also... I have heard good things about both, but cant get the chance to try them out before buying, so it is going to come down to simply picking one and seeing how it goes. If anyone can offer any for and against arguements I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks, and rock on!

Rumor has it the Bluebird sounds relatively natural, and the NT1 is kind of bright, so you would probably need both, to make up for what's lacking in either.

Putting it another way, natural sound works well in acoustic music. Bright sound works well in everything else. Some say it's easier to EQ a natural mic to sound bright than it is to EQ a bright mic to sound natural, but ideally, you would use the right mic in the first place so you didn't have to EQ it at all. That's why we have so many mics laying around, and why we always need just one more.

I've got one of each... and each have their merits. I definately like the Bluebird better for Acoustic Guitar. I prefer the Bluebird on my vocals, but like the Rode on some other people.

When you say an "over" mic... do you mean as an overhead for drums?
