Thread Starter | 2247LE on guitar cab?
Hi, I'm micing a 2x12 cab with a 57 (sounds great) and a 414 (ok...getting some of the lows missing on the 57, mix it in a little, not bad...)...but wondering why the 2247LE wouldn't add something nice here...anyone tried this? Any probs with the high vol? Running through an api 3124+ The 57 sounds very nice on its own...just searching a bit. I have other dynamics but figured the second mic should be an LDC...? (don't have any ribbons...) Thanks for any insight. |

If i am not using my 57 or R121 on guitars, my Peluso 2247 le sounds pretty damn good on guitar cab. It adds alot of warmth and body! If you have a great room to work in and a loud amp its pretty killer as a room mic. Best Regards,

For a room mic (3+ feet) it sounds really good, for a close up (on the grill) mic stick with a dynamic. But this is a general rule of thumb IME for most condensers. Dynamics on the grill, ribbons @ 1 or more feet away, and condensers @ 3 or more feet away (just my personal experience, you may find differently).

thanks! I went ahead and close miced with a 57 and 2247LE. The latter sounds rather nice, much better than the 414. Mixed in low on its own track it adds some nice body to the tone. It seemes worth exploring cos it's a great sounding cab. My room sounds good but I guess I don't want to do the room mic thing here. Not sure abt the benefit of a second dynamic. Already tried a 421 as second mic and it didn't really help. Am I missing something? Any benefit to using a second 57? Also have an RE20. Again, thank you. |

| Lives for gear | You're right it is, but if I had to explain that everytime I mentioned an SM-7b and an AEA (or whatever) in the same breath, I'd be writing all day!! I'm hoping it's common knowledge, or at the least doesn't really matter in the scheme of things.

thumbsup I figured I would get it out there so it is actually more common knowledge because I am not sure sure common knowledge (and common sense) is so common. That and I wanted to bust them for ya... everyone needs that from time to time. | |
