trouble shooting self help thread about getting this working

Please post your tips & tricks on how to get this new mp3 upload feature working.

I have found that

Mac users need to add ".mp3" to Windows uploaded mp3's

Windows users need to add ".mp3" to Mac uploaded mp3's

So far I can't get mp3's tp 'play' in my browser's Quick Time player plug in (my prefered method of listening) any tips? So I need to download em to my desktop.

I am on Mac OS9.2 Explorer (Er....version ?)

In case it's useful to know, it's the same here, with OS 10.3.3 and Explorer 5.2.3 -- gotta download the file and open in QT or iTunes or PT, or whatever.

I must say, it's great that you've made this feature available at all!!

When I get the window that askÕs how to handle the file, if I select the QT application, instead of the plugin - it plays fine.

FYI: After files are upload to GS (jpgÕs, gifÕs, MP3Õs, etc.), they automatically get converted from their original format to Òattachment.php3Ó. - this is probably why the browsers donÕt automatically play the MP3Õs.

Hey Jules,
I noticed my mp3 and a couple others that have
tag info come up as "attachment", while others
work.. I'm wondering why, does the php thing check
the encoding stuff/tags?

When I click on them to download they say .php but in my Mac download manager the tunes name get listed. Sometimes I have to add .mp3 to the file on my desktop but most times not. I have no idea wht it says php. (any web nerds out there?) Don't wory about it! Download and enjoy!

I think it might be somehow checking tags, so it would depend
on your encoder, but I'm not sure..
you're right long as it plays..

My question is:

How do some of you folks get your mp3's to play so LOUD??

The mp3's I burn are of a lame volume, in spite of the fact my mix bus levels are almost at zero.

Is it in the encoding rate? I usually go with 128bps simply because the files are smaller.

???
