Something better, actually. Voxengo LF-Punch and LF-Max are great. I think LF-Max is closer to what RBass/Maxxbass are actually doing, but in my opinion LF-Punch sounds better. It's a different process but still meant for increasing apparent bass.

oh ok...i am not sure what to replace rbass with..honestly, that is quite the plug when it comes to getting my 60-80hz sitting just right. the voxengo could do it...voxengo's best plug to me is Vox Tape though...thats a beauty.

I guess you tried it and don't want to spend money for that plugins and you are looking for something cheaper but as good?

So far I was only working with it in a friends studio. but as far as I know I have to buy the whole R-bundle.. which is not interesting for me.

Aphex Big Bottom

Obviously not a plugin, but I haven't heard a plugin as good as RBass.

You might have some luck with the BBE Sonic Maximizer plug-in (using the "lo-contour" feature). I have RBass & MaxBass, so I've never had to reach for the BBE. Not a pricy plug-in though, so it's worth a shot.

Just buy the Renn Max bundle... it's not that much.

I don't think you will find anything cheaper for what it does.

I may on occasion talk about some of the products I am a dealer for in my posts.. and that's OK! I sell them because I like them. Not vice versa. It's more fun to talk about things you know and love, then things you don't.

Try to find used DBX 120A. As I know Bill Laswell used to use it on his bass to add some extra low end.

I do this a lot. And in both orders. Tape Head puts a natural bump in the high bass anyway. Drive it, or accentuate it post Tape Head with the Digi III? It rocks.

DBX 120 "boombox" when there's one at the studio.

When there isn't I use my Furman Punch 10

When mixing ITB I use Lowender

Just a little tip!

If you move the focal point of the lowend to the +200hz range you can use it to beef up stuff like weak snares and thinny electric guitars. I use it all the time on everything other than bass/ kikdrums...
