Noise blasts/white noise static

Hey guys,
I'm having problems in different songs with these noise blasts that happen at various times in short spurts.
Was wondering if this would be more of a ground loop problem, or a cable patching problem from computer to hardware back to computer type deal? Or something else all together?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Never had anything like this before, and the only thing different lately is patching out to an external compressor. But it didn't happen right away either, it was a few days into the session when the explosions starting occuring.

Should stop using the word explosions and blast in this post so I don't get a knock on the door from big brother...

thanks for any help or suggestions you can offer, it brings a halt to sessions and is quite embarrassing.

some of them have a burst of noise periodically...

No, no demo plugs, just my UAD-1 producer Pak card that's been in there for a couple years now. I did re-install it though when I did maintenence on the computer before the big session. Put in the serial no#, and everything came up great.

I was thinking it was an electrical ground loop, but now I'm starting to think it's something else.

For an update, I think it's fixed but then again, hours into the session it could rear it's ugly head...

I'm pretty certain it was because the computer case wasn't latched and was flopping around and I'm sure pulling on the cord for the card inside. Anyway, crossing my fingers...
kids remember, it's a crack home and not a crack house, and to secure your computer cases after cleaning.
