ADAM small or bigger

Hi,

I know this has been asked before, but just to check with you guys.

I'm wondering if I will get the ADAM
S2.5A's or S2A's...

S2.5A will cost 1399 euro for 1
S2A will cost 1195 euro for 1

My controll room is 6 meters * 5,5 meter makes 33 sq meter. 16,5 * 19,5 feet... This is kinda big, but not really big. Now some ASKI-art (yeah!).

If this is my room, the **** is my table, and the x is me behind the desk. I don't want to change that, for the table is build there, the light etc:

................ 6 meter
|-------------------------------|
| ------------------------------| 5
| --------------******--------| m
| --------------****** --------| e
| ------------------x-----------| t
| ------------------------------|e
| ------------------------------|r
| ------------------------------|
|-------------------------------|

Now my question: will the
S2.5A be to bigg for this setup? 4 meters behind the speakers will be the wall...

Will the S2A do for a room like this? I don't know... I can't find a store nearby that will let me test them both in my own studio. :O

I also don't make really bass orientated music. I'm into old beatle kind of stuff... plus psychedelic, boards of canada electronic music.

The
S3A are 1900 eurp for one. But they have even more bass, don't they?
The K+H monitor will cost around 1.795 for 1 here . Also a lot of $$$$$. Do we go off to Thailand for a few months or get the more expensive monitors?!?!?!?

thanks,
Miqer

I'd say KH300D sould be nice in that room for bass intensive music. But you're much better with S3A for what you've described you're into. ADAMs are les hifi and more honest (and also strict) in the midrange IMO.

Can't comment on S2A and S2.5A, but I can't imagine to have less bass than S3A or less accurate mids. Smaller bass extension = s2a. Less accurate mids = s2.5a... from what I READ.

Have you considered Focals (twins)? If they are so good as everyone sais (!!! ;-) ), then they are winners because of the price.

yeah... Focal Twins or S2.A

Focal Twins or S2.A ?

I have read about the focals being compared to the S3a (too expensive)... but how do users compare them to the S2.A's?

thanks,
m.

I'm really torn between Focal Twin's and Adam s2a. As I have no chance to audition any of them, I would like to know what have you chosen and why?

Thanks

i was in the same predicament a month ago. couldn't decide between the adam s2a's and focal twins. so i did what any slut would do and got both. i mix on both regularly. they're different sounding. i can do half a mix on one set, switch over and hear something on the other monitors that i didn't hear before.

if i had to choose just ONE pair, i wouldn't be able to write it on this thread. they're very different. it's completely a matter of preference. find a dealer who will let you audition both sets in YOUR room. it's the only way to properly choose your monitors.
