cascade 731R retro ribbon mic

Anybody try these out? They are pretty cheap and I really need a ribbon. THey have one with a lundahl transformer as well for an extra hundred bucks. Worth it?

Not that one but have tried a Cascade Victor with long ribbon and stock xfmrs and it sounds great on acoustic sources, esp. guitar and double bass, pushed through an ADL 600 tube pre.

As it is my only ribbon, take this with a grain of NaCl, but I think these mic's are a pretty sweet deal. Certainly worth the few hundred bucks, you can't really loose at this price. I would think that the newer retro ribbon with Lundahl xfmrs would be even nicer.

I have one and love it, it's a bit dark but still sounds good. I really love it on beefy heavy guitar amp.. pair it with a 57 and a good LDC and it sounds great! You just have to play with placement a bit.
