Peluso P12, What preamp?

I just purchased a Peluso P12. I'm trying to find a preamp that will give me a nice signal chain. (I don't have any preamps to speak of -been using the Ensemble pres).
I'm thinking of getting a UA 610. Do you think that would be too tubey?
This will be my main mic -vocals, acoustic, percussion, woodwinds etc.

thanks
Matt

I'm not a big fan of the 610... I would stick with something in the Neve family of sound. I am extremely biased towards the Aurora Audio GTQ2 or GTQC (same preamp), and think it sounds incredible with the three Peluso mics I use (251, 47LE, & P12).

I don't have the P12, but I do own the 251 and 47LE....I too prefer a solid state pre like a Neve with them over a tube pre in most cases.

I have a P12 and an Ensemble and use a Vintech X73i as my pre-amp. I really like it. I would like to try out BAE's 1073 preamp though.

The Mercury M72 is very sweet with the P12. It's a nice complement because the P12 is relatively airy and the M72 has a richer midrange focus. The M72 is based on the Telefunken V72.

I just used a P12 with a Solo 610 with a nasally singer and loved it! I tried an ME1NV first and the nasallity almost killed me. Different strokes for different folks!

Tube Tech MP1a-smooth
Hamptone JFET-edgy
API 3124+-edgier

They all sound great with the P12, just depends on what you are looking for.

Tried P12 into a BAE 1272 and sounded incredible on both male and female vocals.
