Thread Starter | Import tax question...?
I'm thinking about picking up a DAV 1BG and will have to pay import tax to get it in the US of A. Can anyone direct me to or tell me what the rate is? Or how it's calculated? Thanks. |

I've also thought about buying some Euro gear - so I would also find any knowledge on import taxes useful.

I know you didn't ask this but I am a UK gearslut and can vouch for Mick Hinton's professionalism and the quality of the DAV product (I have the BG8 and the BG1U). There is absolutely nothing to be concerned about in terms of ordering from him. He is one the good guys....

Thanks for the ringing endorsement! Just from his emails, I sensed exactly what you said your post. I'm just sitting on the fence trying to decide between the BG1 or the BG1U. It will be one or the other. Thanks again, Earl |

Hey guys, I import a lot from many countries and export a lot to the US (I'm in Canada) and I can tell you that on any piece of gear, especially if it's over $50.00USD there will be import tax. Now the actual total depends totally on the State you're in but for example; I shipped a $350.00 guitar to Georgia and the tax on that was $42.57. The higher the value the higher the tax will be. You can ask the lad you're ordering from to lower the value on the customs declaration but the danger in that is that if anything happens during shipping you only get reimbursed that amount. Still, good packaging should help. Also, I don't know if this works for all Euro orders but if you ask for a certificate of Origin, the taxes are sometimes reduced or all together nullified. You can always call a customs broker for a free consultation. Hope that helped. Cheers, PiN |
