transient designer for voice?

Can a TD be used to improve the quality of speech on a dictaphone recording? Especially to reduce the ambience that was pushed up by the recorder's built-in limiter.
Any other tools around that fit the bill?
What about plugins?

I never thought about that, but I would try the Waves TransX plugs. Might help out.

The instruction manual claims it can (add punch), but it makes vocals really unnatural. The only time I've had it work on vox, is if a vocalist is too far off the mic and you need to bring it forward. In those cases it can be a lifesaver, but close mic stuff gets a little funkadelic.

i used it for just that purpose, to kill the traffic noise in between phrases on a poem that was recorded in a parked car with the window down on a busy manhattan street thru a laptop's built-in mic.

it saved the track, whereas gating failed utterly.
