Best native based channel strip plug-ins?

I'm looking at picking up a channel strip plug in. I run DP 5.12 on a MacBook Pro 2.33 ghz 2G Ram. I will soon be aquiring an external dsp system (probably uad xpander) but i would like a native channel strip. most of the plug ins in DP are pretty lame. i will be using the dsp system for lots of stuff, but i will still have lots of cpu capability remaining, so i figure i can just line up some native channel strips on each track and give the dsp the load of all the extra stuff. i checked out the wave arts cause they have a free download, but i wasn't too fond of it. any suggestions?

Apparently the best one isn't out yet, (urs channel strip pro). I don't like any so far, I'd say the Waves or Duende ssl one is proably the best thusfar.

I like TrackPlug from WaveArts a great deal. It makes my pants happy and ears happier.

Maybe that was the other way around...

+1 on MH Channel Strip. I use it a lot on drums especially.

Depends on what you want it for, but for acoustic instruments and vocal the Voxengo Voxformer is good imo. Not a traditional channel strip per se, but has EQ, two stage compression with over sampling, gate, desser, plus an 'aire' thingy, so it's a 'sort-of-channel-strip'. I wouldn't choose it as a first choice general purpose strip, but as a specialty thing I still like it and use it after a couple of years owning it.

Ditto on the Waves SSL strip. The Duende one is nice as well - but you definitely should have a dedicated firewire port for it.

Plus Metric Halo Channels Strip. It's my basic EQ with an excellent compressor.

A lot of people love this. I wish they'd make it for the PC instead of just the the Mac.

What about those Sonalksis plugs? They're not a channel strip but they have a great gate, great EQ and a great compressor!

if i had to make a strip from native plugs:

1) eqium for eq - it's clean, can be musical or surgical, and doesn't munge the tone.

2) sonalksis for the compressor - it sounds good, and it actually compresses things effectively which is not something i generally experience with software comps. having the limiter in series is deadly sweet.

3) logic's gate - it works.

I love the Waves SSL 4000E Strip.

I am anxiously awaiting URS's Channel Strip Pro.

I really do enjoy using channel strips on everything!

One thing that bothers me with Waves is the WUP and the fact that I have to pay the full price for the bundle (SSL) to get to the E Channel...

I'm not sure, but the uniquel-izer is the unlimited band eq and the frequel-izer is the free-hand eq. If that means anything to you?

Waves SSL Bundle = AWESOME! This is one of the first plugins that I have used where the presets actually do something (good starting points that need little tweaking). The Chris Lord Alge presets are cool too.

I've been waiting for the URS Channel Strip Pro since AES last year, and I'm convinced that it doesn't actually exist - it's mythical, like Nessie, or a free lunch, or Logic 8.

I made a printout of the GUI and rubbed it lightly all over my G5, and it did seem to add warmth and punch to my mixes, though...

It's better than their other stuff (at least the tubes are usable.) I actually like it for the color it imparts, I don't think it performs it's functions as well as other plugins (compression, EQ, etc.) but it does have a sound, which can be nice if you're mixing ITB.

My vote goes to Waves SSL.

Actually, I just tried it, it's pretty good! Turned the cab off, used the compressor stomp box emulation and the svx amp controls for the eq - analog? you got it. Now I must try amplitube 2...

I do find it interesting that so many companies choose to lose out on a major revenue stream by making their products available for only one platform. Same goes for the protools only plugins that aren't made native. I would think that a company is in business to capture as much revenue as possible.
