Thread Starter | ilok flooded with demo licenses = buy new ilok = paying for demo? Greetz to all! Recently I've been demo'ing lots of plugins these days, and my ilok gets flooded with demo licenses. I know, the full license will replace the demo license. But the problem is, say, demo'd 10 bundles and decided to buy only 1, and left other 9 bundles inside the ilok along with other already purchased plugins. Everytime I sync my ilok I really hate to browse the long list and see all those expired demos remained there. I'll have to buy a new one, $40 just to store something I don't want? I wish ilok can withdraw and keep the demo license in the ilok account as a record (along with the ilok serial to prevent re-download them to the same ilok key), rather than having them stucked on the ilok key which will eventually force you to buy a new one... I know, $40 isn't big money compared to the price of plugins that uses iloks. But what's the point, it's like thowing the money off the street... Am I just too picky? Just wondering what do you guys think? ![]() |

| it's always a good idea to keep a spare iLok. i have three iLoks: one for my permanent licenses, one for my demonstration and trial licenses, and one that is empty just in case i need it. as far as the '=paying for demo?' part, well, $40 USD is hardly a steep price to pay to do the necessary research to find out which plugins you will want to actually purchase. i am perhaps in the minority here, but i love the iLok system. i'm not worried about when i upgrade my computer or if my system crashes that i will have lost licenses. i wish ALL the plugins i use would be iLok-enabled. cheers. ~j.d. |

| Same for me with one addition- one more for Waves. They don't like to play ball with other companies so you should always have Waves plugins on their own ilok. |

Thread Starter | I agreed that $40 isn't really something bother for trying out the right tools, guess I'll just stay with that. See if I can find a 2nd hand ilok for 10 bucks... ![]() |

| If you buy a 2nd hand ilok with loads of spent demos on it, do they get wiped when the ilok is transferred to another account? Or do they stay there? Should we inquire whether the ilok has tons of spent demos on it? |

| The demos aren't linked to the iLok AFAIK, but linked to your user account. I have four iLoks on my system but I don't get four demos of everything. |

Thread Starter | Depends on how the developer manage the demo licensing, like URS, they'll provide the demo for you over and over again to the same ilok account. Whereas company like Waves and McDSP only provide once to the same account. But I don't think that's what peeder was asking, I think he mean if buying a 2nd hand ilok with say 40 expired demos on it I don't think they can be wiped off, they can only moved to another ilok to free up spaces. lol guess I better order a brand new one or else if I receive one with 80 license on it I'm gonna be like hell... |

| Maybe I'm missing/overlooking something here, but couldn't you simply trash the expired demo licenses? Isn't that what the little trashcan icons are for on the iLok sync page? |

(I've never once done an ilok demo...though the Soonox demos tempt me...so I don't know what the particulars are, and I wanted to ask. Still not sure...) | |
