Thread Starter | KRK Rokit 6 or Rokit 8's. any thoughts?
these are both in my price range. I listened to them this week at a store and they sounded really different from each other. the 6's had substantially more boost in the mid range. maybe too much. wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this before i purchase. thank you |

i also think the 6s have to force the low end a little. the 8s are solid imo.... a dealer had told me that the rokits can be tiring on the ears rather quickly. |

I had a similar quandry over Rockit 6's or 8's. Then by chance I listened to the Yamaha HS80's (8 inch drivers same price roughly as the rockit 8's) and the decision was made for me. In the price range I think the yamahas are the best. So as to ensure I was not going nuts, I brought two of my classmates from SAE (audio recording school here in Australia) and we re-listened to them. All of us agreed on the HS80's. |

I went for the RP6s as I want the midrange detail which I feel I got more from the 6s. Depends on what genres you monitor on though. Electronic music "do you want a sub with that RP8?

I never really liked my Rokit 6's, sold them a long time ago. They're great for listening to music but not really the best to mix on. I had a really hard time getting my mixes to translate well on to other systems. I'm sure there are many better monitors out there, do a little more research. Also consider saving up until you can afford something in the $1000 range as you'll only end up selling them later on when you decide to upgrade & lose a lot of money (like i did). My two cents. |

I had both. I like the 8s a lot better, better overall response and such. However when I upgraded to the 8s I also got the sub with it and that made a big difference. Personally I think the extra is worth it. Of course when I got it I was a GC employee so I got them almost half-off |

| not gonna like this
I didn't like the 8's especially with a sub. The 6's I found to be better to mix with. But I opted to go with blue sky 2.1 system which I like much better than any of the rokits. Now the V4's with a sub is another story. Really liked that combo
