MYTEK ROCKS !!!!

I just had a great session with some Myteks I rented.
It was really mind blowing how true everything sounded.
I`m not going to throw out any catch phrases here but it really made things very easy.

Blew the shit out of the PSX 100 I had previously.

When we we were listening back to things with the band it was at a point where I made a few easy level tweaks and it already sounded like a finished product in some ways.

It made picking out mics a breeze and once chosen they all seeemed to react perfectly with the sources I put them on.

I`m really phsyched about when the tracking ends and I can play around with tracks that already sound good for once.

I barely have to touch this stuff.

Maybe I just had a good day (like the rain golfer in Caddy Shack) but I suddenly feel like I`ve jumped about ten levels just because of the equipment I`ve accumulated in the past month.

Were you using just one AD and/or DA each, like the PSX, or tracking though a bunch of channels? Were you using DA for monitoring only? Just wondering because I'm using a PSX, but I'm always open for change...

I had one of the 8 channel units Truffle.
The funny thing is I was fine with the PSX and I think I did some O.K. stuff with it.
Compared to the Mytek it sounds like I recorded in a garbage bin.

All the problems I thought I was having with my room weren`t actually there.
It was just my crappy converters.

I knew I had to upgrade I just didn`t think it would have this much effect.

Very nice.

If you mean the new apogee units, I don't think they are out yet.

As already said the Apogee x series not here until April (with cards). Mytek are held in very high regard, more pricey than your apogees for whatever reasons that may be.But you cannot lose with Myteks, Benchmark, Prism, & Lavry conversion. With those brands you seem to get a variation in flavours rather than massive quality variations.

I tend to think that`s gotta be it at this point.

I bet they all sound a little different at that level but I don`t think any of them would be holding you back in anyway.

I`m personally saving some cash for the Rosetta 800 because it has ins and outs for the price of Myteks ins.

It might not sound "quite" as good but I doubt I`ll notice it when I put it to work.
I`m very doubtful about it being significantly better than the Mytek though like some annoying weasly sales fellow has stated recently.

I don`t have the means to get the 5 above mentioned converters in my studio to test them at this point but that`s probably the only way to really tell them apart even.

I doubt that the average engineer would be able to pick out an entire mix that was done with these various converters (start to finish) and say one was worse because the converters.

I have been wrong before though.
