PSP Nitro

PSP just released a demo for their forthcoming filter plug-in. PC and Mac OS X VST and PC DirectX formats.

PSP Audioware

Does a real nice job un-brittle-izing Reason synths (the extent of my playing around with it so far).

The interface seems very, um, 1990.

Heavy CPU guzzler, at least at this pre-release stage, tho. 2 instances gobble up about 50% of my G5's processing (in Tracktion, haven't converted it to AU to see how it behaves in Logic yet).

most of the psp plugs are cpu hogs i guess thats why they sound good? (Vintage Warmer, Master Q, & now nitro)

how does it compare to antares filter?

Well, they've taken it to a whole 'nother level--I doubt I can run more than 2 instances under normal conditions (unless there are optimizations still being made before the official release).

Totally spanks Filter, though, so the CPU usage isn't for nothing. Timbres are richer and warmer; gives sounds a nice zing of presence; oscillator sweeps don't sound alias-y. Filter, to my ears, seems to only add a palpable effect in the high end, while the mids/lows come out like sludge, if they poke through at all; Nitro's mids/lows both come through better in more modest effects and sound more refined when the accent on them is heavier.
