Do used 6 slot API Lunchboxes sell easy enough second hand?

Strange question you may think, but within the next month I'm hopefully going to be entering the wonderful world of 500 series eq, comps & pres. If everything goes to plan, eventually I will need 10 slots. So do I get the cheaper lunchbox to start with then sell it and up grade to the 10 slot rack or save a bit longer and get the rack to start with.

Do used lunchboxes sell ok in the UK or will I be stuck with it?

See if your dealer will take the lunch box back for credit when you upgrade...as you can then buy more modules from him.

We do this for our customers...it just makes good business sense

anything 500 form sales period
but?
one thing to consider is most everyone that got lunch box's are looking to upgrade.
on the other hand a lot of new studio owners are wanting in at a good price.
i do not think you would have any issues selling a used box

This rack thing must be all about aestetics and space, because my way of thinking as a lunch box owner (correct me if I'm wrong as I know you will) is the lunch box is a better value.

Lunch box avg. $425 = $70.83 per space

10 space rack $825 = $82.50 per space

add to that a few dealers throw the lunch box in with purchase of 4 or more modules and it's hard not to just buy another LB.

Maybe I'm using old math..............

as i understand the power supply is much better in the rack's, ( i maybe wrong? but this is what i have been led to believe. maybe a manufacturer can chime in on this. ) but i need gear in racks, i have no place to stack up lunch box's so for me the rack are a must.

True that about needing to rack. I'm just saying.... and from what I've read the power supplies in at least the newer LBs (XLR fitted) is more than adequate.

Wasnt it 11 spaces?
that would take it down to 75$....

I was speaking to the API brand racks and LB's. Yes, I think there are a couple of 11 space after market 500 series racks, but I think they're even more money.

not sure now, as API has lowered their cost but when i got mine both BA and OSA were much more affordable then the api, as well they both had better power supplies.
their has been some changes, and i do know API has or is going to, beef up their power supplies.
as well their cost has come down.

i still want to see a few more companies get into a modular console.

By the time you're ready to upgrade, I'll be ready to buy your lunchbox. So, the answer is yes, buy the 6 slot rack, and then call me when you want to sell it. Seriously.

An added benefit of the Lunchbox is the portability. Take a loaded one with you to your remote session...exchange the modules...

It's got a freak'n carrying handle!

Doesn't it void your api warranty if you use none api or none VPR gear?
