Session data. What do you keep?

So in my quest to learn more, I am trying to find some insight on session data.
What all you guys keep, and how you keep it. I have been searching on here and
all I could find was info on track sheets. I have recall sheets for all the gear I use
and I made a text file that has artist name, song name, instrument and recording
chain, etc. But I am interested to see how you pro guys do it and if anyone could
share some blank pdf forms or something to that effect would be great. I have no
other means of learning other than this forum and books so any insight would be
appreciated.

In Protools I'll use the comments boxes. Sometimes a text document kept in the session folder. Digital camera, pics in the session folder. thumbsup

You asked for PDF?
link - tracking sheet

My macbook is always close by with text files detailing everything possible that isn't stored in the DAW. Digi cam for anything on an analog board.

Thanks for the replies and links!

Thats basically what I have been doing. I have a text file that has space for drums, guitars, bass, vox and what ever other instrument. I would keep up with the signal chain,
mic > pre > compressor(if used) > converter. For guitars and bass I would include which guitars and amps were used. As for the drums, each drum was boken down individually, so
kick > signal chain, snare > signal chain, etc.

I use recall sheets for the gear and I also have a digital camera that I'll take pics of mic/instrument setup and placement. But I remember reading a post awhile back in which they talked about keeping up with incredible detailed info that I never thought about like: If they rented a guitar, where from, what model, year, sn, etc. That just got me thinking if I should start keeping up with the less obvious info. Should I keep up with each particular drum and cymbal that were used on a song? Which effect pedal were on each track? And so on.
Thoughts?

Only if you need precise recall. Who doesn't, in this day of fix-alot recording? Notes help lot for mixing too. I saw engineers keying away in notebooks years ago: toms boomy on track one, etc... Notes really matter!

So much advice on a funny little websight. Go make an awesome album, and send us your roughs, and your notes!
