Those things look incredibly good and ridiculously cheap.

Anyone use Ribbons for overheads? I know they'll be great as a Blumlein pair on acoustic and vox but I was wondering about OH.

I've just had a couple of MC-012s done with the Dorsey mod and I'm wondering if I should sell those and just use those Fatheads. Could I use that Fathead pair as a replacement for the Oktavas or do I need to keep a pair of pencils around?

Whatcha think?

I do alt/country, folky, Ethan Johns type rock. Or at least I aspire to that type of stuff.

I've used my Fathead I's on acoustic guitar, fiddle, and trumpet - I like them a lot. I haven't tried them on drums yet but other people in other threads have, and posted samples.
These people like them too:

Funny thing is this is the second time I've replied to a thread about the Cascade Fathead with a list of other threads about...the Cascade Fathead

Even in my small, partially treated room, I often prefer ribbons as OH. I have used an unbranded chinese ribbon that closely resembles the fathead as an OH, and it works great. I also like the Nady RSM2 for that app.
