Thread Starter | A/D D/A conversion quality question... Hey guys, my first post! Glad to be here.. I am currently running my mic pre's through a Tascam DM-3200 and am using the mixer's A/D converters. I'm then using the mixer's ADAT out to my computer's RME audio card (using Logic 7). My question is, will it make a big difference to get a dedicated outboard A/D converter (like a Lynx, RME, Apogee etc) instead of using the Tascam's built-in converter's? The sound I'm getting right now is definitely decent, I'm just wondering if I am missing out on a whole other world of quality with a great converter... Thanks for the help! |

Thread Starter | I had a feeling...I think partly I was hoping I wouldn't have to drop another chunk of change for more gear, but I can see how it would make a difference. Is there a converter you/anyone else can recommend? RME seems like the cheapest of the high end stuff, plus I have an RME card already. I don't necessarily need 8 channels, 2 would be plenty. |
