Good monitors for Mixing and Mastering

I'm still building my studio and teaching myself how to become an egineer, I currently dont have any monitors and my price range is 1000 to 1500 dollars

can someone reccomend me some please

It seems every engineer has his own favorite and you got guys mixing on Focal, ADAM, PMC, Genelec,etc.. the list is endless.

The best way is to go where they sell a bunch of monitors with a few CDs in hand and try them all out. Any advice on monitors on this forum is really useless since it really is a personal thing. Go try a bunch out at your audio store! Good luck on monitor hunting! thumbsup

In that price range I'd probably go Tannoy Precision 6D. They are very detailed speakers, have a wide sweet spot, and freq response up to 51kHz. If you can stretch your budget a bit, go Precision 8D for more volume and low end response.
