Seeking NYC studio for mic test I'm looking for a studio for testing some mics (which I of course will pay for). Do you know of any studio with a few or more of the following mics: Peluso 2247LE, Peluso 22-251 Peluso P12, Peluso CEMC6 M-audio Sputnik, Soundelux U195 Mojave MA-200 Pearlman TM-1 And maybe other mics in the price range of 500-1700 (ATs). It's for male vocal and a lowden acoustic guitar. I've googled many studios, but couldn't find a lot of pelusos around. Usually they carry really expensive microphones like U87 and such. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks. I've read pretty much every post and listen to alle the clips of every microphone there is. But since it's a lot of money for me, I just want to be absolutely sure of which mic to get for my voice. And I think I need to test them for that.

| It might be tricky..... I know a lot of NYC studios pretty intimately, and I've never seen Pelusos in any of them. I think they've been much more succesful in marketing to home and perhaps project studio owners. Same goes for the Sputnik. Alto Music has a sales agent here in New York City who can get pretty much anything they carry for you to try out in his studio. I'm just thinking off the top of my head here, but I believe they carry Peluso mics.......

I've got the MA-200. What you need to do is demo them from a dealer. If you can't get them all there back to back. Do a few at a time and record them.

If you were to try to do that at differnt studios, the expense would add up, and there would be too many variables to get a good picture. See a dealer. That's what they're there for. If they are reluctant to give you the service you want, politely demand it, or take your business elsewhere. Any truly good dealer will bend over backwards for you if treat them decently. If you ever go to GC you'll likely have to be pretty demanding to get reasonable service. That's why I don't go to the big chains... by nature, I just can't be that demanding all the time!

When I made my first investment in high quality microphones, the dealer happily shipped 3 different pair to me to demo for a weekend. I agreed to pay a small "rental" fee if I didn't buy anything, but it was an awesome experience... I was able to make a great choice. Perhaps you can find a dealer to do this for you.

Mercenary makes a big point of doing this. I don't know if they carry those mics though.
