Mark, make the drive down to Warrens place in Columbia to set a demo up. He has some as well as the studio (the Jam room) next door. I may do the same in the future as I hear thay are pretty sweet, especially for the $$$.
See ya around town.

They rock for the money, we just got the entire line of chamleon labs pres and mics in stock and have already some testing on acoustic guitar and vocals. Another great example of a company making inexpensive gear that sounds pretty good!

Best Regards,

You should stop by my place some time as I just got a pair of the Focal Solo6's.
I'm loving them.

I've got the TS-2 i for review right now. I also spent a decent amount of time with the designer of the mic Terry Setter. He and I were both at TapeOpCon this past weekend.

The mic is very extended and detailed. Part of the reason being that in the design phase Terry realized he could minimize the circuit. It has a really nice top end that is not harsh. The null when in figure 8 is really great.

The variable tube heater is pretty cool. I like it about half way between the "normal/calibrated" and full/wide open setting. Terry told me that if you run the tube really cold and starve the tube it gets really nasty and fun, so I know I'm gonna do tht sometime soon...

Make sure you have a good stand, that mic is heavy!

My neighbor at the rehearsal studios I'm set up at has 2 channels of CLabs EQ (I think).

He says that if they offered a rack pack he'd buy one. He said he's interested in even calling them about making one.

He swears by 'em.

The es Harley,

I haven't had as much time with the Pearlman yet. It's a darker mic than the TS-2, which is what I was looking for. I may even got Dave to mod the Pearlman for the high cut.

Email me in a few weeks, I'll have a better grasp then.

I think I may do an M/S overhead with the Pearlman on the mid and the TS-2 as the side.

even darker??

wow it's dark and you want it even darker....why? is the chameleon that much brighter? Mitch Easter said he likes his chameleon and that it's more clear sounding than his neumann/gefell.
It's hard to make a choice when you have limited funds [who doesn't these days?]
It just means more research and many more questions...and depending on others
opinions/experience

I'm not sure how dark yet. Mine is a bit older and the patter switch is on the inside. Dave can mod it to be on the outside and while its there I can have the new high cut added too. The TS-2 is more extended than bright. It's a really good mic, I was just in the mood for gooey...

Mitch seems to like both the TS-2 and the TS-1 SDC tube mics.

TS-2

I own a TS-2 and a 7602, and a 7720.

They make the best sounding gear for the money period. TS-2 kicks ass on a M-149 (only for the money) hands down, why because you could buy :A Universal Audio Pre , a Crane Song HDD-192 and a Chameleon Labs TS-2, all for the price of one Neumann M-149! Sorry the Neumann is a fabulous mic, but with those other items with the TS-2 ...forget about it.
Here's a signal path for ya!
If I used a Chameleon LabsTS-2 ---then D.w Fearns Tube Pre, then going into a Crane Song STC-8 Compressor, then AD Conversion with a Crane Song Hedd -192 then bypass my RME 9632's onboard converter by going digitally into Nuendo---watching the levels of course- then final stem mixdown---onto analog summing through a Neve 8816, back into the Cranesong STC-8 analog then into the ADL 670 Stereo Tube Limiter analog, then back into the Crane Song Hedd-192 analog--- then digitally out into the Tascam DV-RA1000HD...I would love to have that flippin setup... Oh and listen to it all in a great mastering room with Griffin Audio Loudspeakers....geez!
