It's nice although it depends on what you're after. A while back I did some admittedly poor clips of a DI bass through the BAE 312A, Biz, Elixir and Toft ATB (using a Buzz MIA DI into the Toft) and I preferred them in that order. YMMV.

i love the elixir for bass DI. thick, smooth, and warm

this is one of my favorite applications for this pre. IMO it beat out the OSA L3 here, and that is one of the apps the L3 is known for being great at. not taking anything away from the L3, its great, but the Elixir was just plain better and more pleasing to my ears.

i had a couple of other bassists in the studio that thought the same as well.

im constantly amazed that this pre doesnt get more...buzz on the site

i think it works great in this setting.
when i reviewed the elixir i was very impressed with the bass, ( as well as the whole pre ) i generally would keep any pre that impressed me as much.
i did not choose to keep it only because i was getting a pair of the Buzz essence's and money, as always was, ( and is ) tight.
