It's a Girl!

Hello fellow Slutz,
At 39, I am now the proud Daddy of a beautiful little girl!
Although I am thrilled, it does pose a challenge to her Dad's recording addiction.
I have been recording local bands on the side (nights and weekend)
My new challenge will now require being selective of the session times......unless the band likes the sound of a crying baby upstairs.(lol)
I'm sure many of you have to deal with this issue...any advice?

Congrats and all the best!!

I found a Portastudio recording I had made of our first daughter when she had colic. She was about 2 mos old. I found it and burned her a CD of it. She'll turn 20 this year.

My girls are now 6 and 9. When the first one arrived, it wasn't long until my gigging days came to an end. After the second one arrived, my recording time was significantly curtailed. At the beginning of this year, I closed the studio as a business but now have time to actually get back to my own music (which all but disappeared for several years).

Being a dad is about the coolest thing in the world but it does shift your priorities a bit. Mine are now loving to come out to the studio and play on the drums, guitar, keys, whatever I let them get their hands on. They're both very musical and will no doubt pick up where their old man left off. At that point I can live out my rock-n-fantasy vicariously through them.

It's all good.

congratulations! you will love being a dad. you'd be surprised what kids will sleep through. my drum room is right under where the kid sleeps. he sleeps right through all the drums and guitars no problem. it is pretty insulated and seems to work good. i was afraid of what i was going to be able to get away with. i am stoked that my kid adapted and is going to be a great drummer himself. he loves the gear in the control room too . if you are into and love it chances are your kid might too. good luck with everything.

Congratulations, it'll change your life more than you know...for the better. Remember, milk and baby food FIRST...gear last. thumbsup

As a father of 5 the advice I can give is: record in a separate building. I'm building into my 900 sq ft garage later this year and it's no accident. I'm thankful my garage is detached...!

On the upside, taking my kids into the studio every once in a while to record a song is a blast. My daughter (12) had a slumber party and brought her friends in my place and they thought it was the coolest thing ever. I guess their dad's don't record rock bands...

Congrats, I had my 1st son when I was 19, my 1st daughter at 32, and my last three, 2 boys and 1 girl, after turning 40. God has blessed me with all my children. I do find that having my last 3 later in life made me appreciate fatherhood so much more as my life had balanced out by then.

Remember, men have to work much harder at making time, but it pays off so much in thier little lives.

If you have God in life, share Him with them, if not, then please find Him, He's wating for you, and then share Him with them.

God Bless,

Barry
