Discussion Forum Survey (responders needed)

(Posted with permission from Jules.)

Hello,

Let me first introduce myself, my name is Jonas Jalava and I study marketing at the Swedish School of Economics and Business Administration in Finland (http://www.hanken.fi/public/?language=en). I'm also a musician and spend a lot of time on different gear-related forums.

Right now I'm writing my bachelor's thesis on how people use discussion forums and what they do with the information they find.
Because of my personal interests I'm making a case study specifically of gear-discussion forums.

I have created a survey which I expect will answer my research questions, and now I need your help to provide material for the research by answering the survey.
The survey is accessible at my personal webspace: http://www.netikka.net/ix/forumsurvey/

The survey consists of 11 background information questions and 29 statements which you can answer on a 5-point scale, filling it out will take 10-15 minutes.
Your response will be equally valuable whether you are an active poster or a lurker. The survey is also anonymous.

Please keep in mind that answering all questions is required because the data won't be useful for statistical testing otherwise.
Other than that, I thank you for participating!

// Jonas Jalava

Disclaimer: I won't keep any record of the responders IP-adresses nor make individual response data public at any point.
Neither me nor my research are associated with any company. Regarding the technical bit: the survey will send the data through a cgi-script
at http://www.response-o-matic.com to my personal email at jonas.jalava@gmail.com.

If you have any questions please direct them to my mail at jonas.jalava@gmail.com

OK I did it. But I found the questions confusing. Too vague and general to be useful I would guess. Just my opinion.

I agree there - but English is his 2nd language and he did ask ever so nicely :)

The survey is not perfect by any means, but I will be using a statistical analysis technique on questions 12-40 that will break them down into a fewer number of important components, so the questions need to be somewhat general.

Right now it looks like I can wrap up the survey tomorrow or on friday. Please have patience with me until then. (bumping again)
