T-RackS now Universal Binary

Hello, all you Intel Mac users out there. IK Multimedia's T-RackS mastering suite finally went UB today. You can get it at www.amplitube.com

Has anyone found this particular set of plugs of any use? I'm considering getting it as part of the Total Effects bundle (which comes with Amplitube 2, Ampeg SVX, Classic Studio Reverb, and T-RackS).

Ideas?

I've got that bundle for my Mac and it is well worth it for the SVX and CSR alone....!!!

The T-racks has some great mastering settings for radio and for TV spots. I've used them many times and that was what ended up being broadcast instead of going to re-mastering and then broadcast.

I don't care for T-Racks at all. For mastering Solera is the king.

well, Amplitube 2, Ampeg SVX, and CSR are all EXCELLENT imo.
T-Racks is less useful and to me doesn't really stack up to other offerings from competitors.

but 3 out of 4 ain't bad!
you should go for the Total Effects Bundle!

cheers.

I probably will be getting the bundle. And thanks for the opinions so far. Anyone else have any thoughts about T-RackS and its possible uses?

I do not like it for home mastering , but i find some of the plugs useful on their own ......

You can instance them seperately(Eq,comp, multi comp and clipper) or as a mastering suite ......

I do not mind the clipper if i want to quickly make a mix louder before the client walks in

It's official. Just bought the IK Total Effects Bundle. It should be here within the week.

$399 for these four: Amplitube 2, Ampex SVX, Classik Studio Reverb, and T-RackS. I love academic pricing!

So, any more ideas on how T-RackS might be useful? I sit and learn at the knee of y'all's slutty wisdom.

Well - Amplitube 2 still doesn't work for Cubase 4, so this is a large pain in the posterior for me...

I've got a bunch of newer, more expensive stuff, but a couple of the TRacks plugins still get used. Mainly the compressor; sometimes the EQ. Soft clipper a couple of times a year; does too much crunching for me usually.

Not bad at all, especially considering the reputation.

The limiter just sounds boxy and kinda bad; can be cool if that's what you want.

I never use the whole suite all together.

I've only really used T-Racks for effects type stuff. As an actual EQ, I've found it to be less than stellar.

That Ampeg SVX plug though - AWESOME.

I'd say it certainly favors certain styles of music...the whole suite has a definite character you may or may not like at all depending on what you're doing. Something to have on the palette but it's definitely neither hi-fi nor all-purpose.

IMO, T-Racks's EQ and Compressor are bad but the limiter is great and the soft clipper more than useful.

The limiter seems boxy and kinda bad... until you play your mix on little Auratone speakers or hear your mix on little TV or car radio speakers. Then it's

I wouldn't use it to master "My Sgt. Pepper" or "My Pet Sounds" but for a cheap and cheerful TV or radio spot that cuts through at all the right frequencies it's an inexpensive and effective solution imo.
