A long and winding thread - Abbey Road - revisited

My ex protégé, engineer William Spong was running PT for a film score session at Abbey Road engineered by my very good chum and classical engineer Martin Astle. I had to drop off my Prism PT interface to them to use for mixing the next day (today) across town at The Pierce rooms. So Library Studio engineer Tom and I dropped in and hung out for a while....

The visit was well timed, they had just finished, were backing up files and were enjoying the Friday "keg party" in the cafe below and we joined them in toasting a very successful but HEAVY days work!

Here are some pictures, all (but the last one of studio 1) are from the legendary Studio 2 where the Beatles recorded ALL their hits.

Enjoy!

Jules,

Very curious about the material of the walls in Studio 2. I can see the drappery that lines the walls in long thin swatches but what are the white walls made of? Is it very reflective in that room? I gotta know...

The long bunched up drapes seem like just that. It didn't look like they unfolded however... there were two GIGANTIC pannels that can come away from the wall on either side on rollers that can form a wall halfway accross the whole room!!!!!

I have a photo of them and will post it soon.

When you clap your hands loudly in studio 2 it sounds 'quiet', totally non reverberant and freakishly 'dead'. A modest 1 second decay is bearly audible...

Hi,

What´s the name of the EQ second from the top in the "Rack 2" picture? I used and liked one of these many years ago but don´t remember the name/model.

Thanks

Thanks Jules for the "tour" I missed.
I visited London 3 years ago and didn't dare to ask for a little tour at Abbey Road (just stood at the other side of the street and dreamed about the Beatles walkin' in )

Great pics - thanks

Jo
