ADVICE/FEEDBACK NEEDED..Trident 80b sound/reputation...thanks!!

Hello all,

I am so grateful to be able to call upon the incredible pool of knowledge here at GS!

I am in hopes that experienced users of this console can fill me in on the sound and reputation of this model of console.

I record guitar based rock...sometimes just virging on "metal" but mostly rather psychedelic textured stuff that includes a strong "Who-style" hard rock element. A local critic who has heard some of my recent demos says that my material "sounds somewhat like a cross between Whos Next, Porcupine Tree (who's that?) and Bowie's Scary Monsters". No comment, I dunno!

Anyway....I live in a small town and have just heard that there is a guy living here that has a "Trident 80b that has been shrinkwrapped for 6 years" and who probably wants to sell it.

Feedback, please on the Trident 80b console. I cannot thank the forum enough for any really informed input!

One Q in advance...are parts available for this model?

Many thanks indeed,
Terry

Thumbs up Trident 80B

The Trident 80B Is a great console! Especially for rock! I am a guitar player
and play pretty heavy rock. It has a wide stereo field. Great eq that really works great with the transformers. And you get just great crunchy guitars If you want.
It has a very flexable patch bay. I cant say enough how much I love the sound of It. You can layer for days! To me its like the perfect balance console. Not to dark and not to thin.... Just right. Also If you have any doubts check out Blackbird studios Trident 80 and Darkhorse recording studios has two Trident 80,s. There Is also a studio in LA who has done alot of the offspring records etc.......The first
NO Doubt record was on a series 80 etc......... I also have neve 1073 pres. I prefer
the Trident mic pres with the eq. Trident 80 has Its own sound that no other console has. In a very good way. Hope that helps..........John
