| Gear Head | Thread related to Audio Jobs/Work This forum I just noticed has no real designated place to list audio related "help wanted" or "looking for work" type threads. As everyone at some point has experienced, finding an audio related job isn't the easiest thing in the world. Is there another audio forum that does have this feature? Am I missing something? Or is a forum for this subject simply not going to get enough posts/replies to be worth maintaining? I'm aware that studios hiring practices are far from the norm, but this surely would be a good place to find some promising people if you indeed did have jobs available? But that also doesn't mean there aren't temporary gigs (live sound, setup) that could be posted and what not. Any audio related job, really. So, any comments/ideas?

| i'd say in this business, the internet is an awful place to look for a steady job. plus, as far as i'm concerned, the only way to land that kind of gig nowadays is to open your own shop, or absolutely stun the owner or manager of a facility with your past work. plus, there's a huge trust factor involved....and not just with equipment safety. the studio higher ups have to be relatively positive that you'll maintain the good name of their business. if you wanna work at "StudioX"...contact the studio and book a band that wants to work with you! they'd be more than happy to fill empty dates with freelancers. you might even get a free assistant out of the deal. |

| Great idea! I was thinking the same lately and am happy someone posted about it. It could serve as a community support forum too, temporary file upload/download, exchange of services, online hirer/hiree database, etc. I suggest it be in the registered members area. |
