Symphony users...couple of quick Qs about cables...

I'm getting a Symphony PCI-E card with a Rosetta 800 and just trying to work out how it all connects together.

Firstly, does the Rosetta 800 or the PCI-E card come with any cables included? I think this is wishful thinking!

I haven't been able to find out on the Apogee website, but which cable do I need to connect the PCI-E card to the Smyphony X Card in the Rosetta 800?

Thanks for this. Also, are there any users out there using an Avocet with a Rosetta 800? Are you using analogue out ----> analogue in on the Avocet, SPDIF or AES? I suppose the best thing is to use both analogue and digital so you can monitor the conversion....

The cable should be included, but you will need to confirm this with the company you are purchasing it from. (I can't guarantee all companies use logic when bundling products.) If you are able to, I would test the Apogee DA converters against the Cranesong's. (You will need to get a digital AES cable for the Rosetta.) I would use the one that you like the best.

Thanks for the help Zach. This is a pretty noob question, but what is the best way to integrate my outboard into the chain?

I will be using an STC-8 and a Massive Passive together on the stereo bus, and monitoring the output through the Avocet (as you already know). I take it I would go out on Analog 1 + 2 from the 8 XLR breakout cable from the Rosetta, through the outboard, and back in on analog 3 + 4 (on the 8 XLr input breakout). I would set up the Apogee internal mixer and Logic to monitor through outputs 3 +4 I take it?

Then from the Rosetta I could go out via AES (as you suggested) into the Avocet. I could also then use a further set of analogue outputs from the XLR breakout cable to monitor the different conversion. Does this sound right?

I ordered cables with my Symphony card and X-Symphony cards and when they arrived there were cables included, 3m with the Symphony card and 0.5m with the X-Symphony cards. It didn't state this anywhere when I ordered.

I sent the cables back as there is a 30 day money back period with the supplier I got them from.

The product numbers for the cables are,

Apogee PC 32 IFC followed by the length in meters ie 10, 3, 0.5 etc
