| Archiving Advice? Hi everyone, A friend is going to do some archiving for me (years of DATs, cassettes, ADATs and DA-88s), by transferring them all to hard disk for me. I am going to set him up with a little laptop solution. Essentially all he will be doing is transferring and cataloging the material - no eq or mastering at all. What interface would you recommend? We won't need more than 8 analog ins, and AES/EBU ins would be handy, but not essential if there are SPDIF inputs. What software? The simpler, the better, I'd believe. Would we need an external clock (Big Ben or the like)? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! |

| .. i actually thought this was an idea you had about archiving ADVICE here at gearslutz - which i think is a pretty COOL IDEA... "sound" advice posts given in all the threads could be moved to a whole new forum called "ADVICE", with separate subdivisions for all the current catagories... want "ADVICE" about which pres complement which mics for which vocal types?? advice about which p-90 pickups fit which guitars? advice about hip hop mastering? best controller mods for ssl j9000s? i guess the threads would be LOCKED, so they could remain ADVICE... ... oyyyyyyyyy, does THAT sound like a matrixing NIGHTMARE.... sorry for the ot - i'm exhausted and going to bed..... .....
