Question Distressor SSL bus comp emulation

It seems to me that if the Distressor can mimic an 1176 or LA-2A somewhat, considering its topology wouldn't you think it could do the SSL bus thing? Anyone had any luck with this? Maybe 4:1 ratio as a starting point...

It can do a lot of things, but in my experience it doesn't have that VCA style of compression going for it.

It's still an extremely versatile unit, just not for this particular use.

Doesn't it use VCA's though?

Yes. But, the way it is implemented is not the same style of compression. The Distressor doesn't have that ultra fast type of VCA compression like the SSL.

But it has the ultra-fast Distressor type of compression.

The metering between the two is drastically different. It's much easier to compress 1-2 db on the ssl.

A Distressor will get the job done well on just about anything EXCEPT bus compression. You gotta look some place else for that.
