Thread Starter | Low Profile Vocal Mic For Television...
hi all... I'm currently on location recording the music for a shoot called 'Transatlantic Sessions' (some great music... Aly Bain is the Scottish Musical Director, and Jerry Douglas from the states... some great musicians from both sides of the atlantic are here for 2 weeks filming...) Anyway, been talking to the DOP (Lighting Cameraman) tonight over dinner, and he is a stickler for mics being discrete as possible or ideally 'invisible' to the cameras... I am using KM184s for most instruments, they are working great, really directional, allowing good separation even when distance micing from below (out of camera sight!)... for vocals I am using KMS105s which sound really great Any suggestions for a smaller alternative??? I have tried KM184s on vox before on a previous shoot, and for some voices they worked great, but for some voices they had a really quite harsh edge to them which wasn't nice and difficult to EQ out... Looking for other alternatives... I guess to be lower profile than a KMS105 it'd have to be some kind of pencil condenser... Any thoughts would be appreciated!!! Cheers Iain |

Sennheiser 441's are great on some vocals, they're long but pretty skinny.
