New bodies are @ $300 dollars from Neumann - I just bought a U87 that looks like it's been run over by a SUV. But as it works fine I've decided I like the dents - it looks well used.

Regards

Stephen

This is where I went when I needed to find out how to disassemble an AKG 414. They even posted some pics of it so I could wrap my head around it all. I bet someone over there could help you out.

Word. It is very useful though. The propellerhead power is not to be underestimated in a time of serious component level technical need....or bashing the dents out of a U-87.

Yes there are some really helpful members there. Although once I made a post looking for an IC's name. When I found the IC name I started a new thread asking if anyone had any and Gyraf (moderator) told me off for wasting their precious archive space and not posting in my original thread. It was like 5 words long. This one's for you Gyraf fuuck

Holy crap no kidding. I got this from the very first post I gandered at:

"It is obvious that capsules thicker than zero or smaller than infinite square will have comb filter curve starting from some frequency."

Um yes, as he said, this is, um, obvious.

I believe Neumann USA (acually Sennheiser) can fix them up for you. I've seen them take dents out of grills and make them immaculate. Some of the more esoteric mics actually have to go to Germany...

Oops - sorry about that!

We have made a great effort of trying to organize information over there in a way that is understandable and relatively easily searched. We try setting it up to be an archive of past questions-and-answers, not so much an online help chat.

So sometime I overreact to what could be considered wasteful posting (or I simply had a bad day - I don't remember that particular incident..)

Dont misunderstood. Maybe what gyraf wants to tell you is do search first before open a new thread.

Jakob is so helpful & generous sharing information and technical support...

Well... Jakob, I'm in the making of your G7.

If I go to Denmark I should see you...

I believe Korby does a stellar job at refurbishing these mics as well. Give them a call.
